BIANCA CEFALO | Space Influencer

Changing the stereotype of the rocket scientist, Bianca Cefalo wows us with her fast-paced life that is truly mirrored in her career and achievements, and a drive that matches an F1 Ferrari! As an avid advocate for STEM and women in the space industry, Bianca talks about startups, prototypes, and space industry collaboration, all held together by a strong belief in the future potential of the space community.
Podcast: SPACE IN 60 Episode: BIANCA CEFALO | Space Influencer Today’s hosts, Chad Baker, Clint Graumann and Andrew Pylypchuk, invite you to join us for today’s episode of the SPACE IN 60 podcast. Together, they bring you into the world of the new space industry! Our guest today is the very first space influencer Bianca Cefalo. To kick off the conversation, Bianca shares a bit about herself and how she became immersed in the space industry. With a background in automotive mechanics, she cultivated an interest in seeing how things work from the inside out. She began by studying aerodynamics for cars and eventually shifted to working for space companies. She began to see her journey as an important one to share, especially for girls who have been discouraged from being involved in the industry. After working in corporate jobs in major space companies, Bianca realized that wasn’t for her. She re-thought her entire career path, which led her to co-founding Space DOTS. In addition, she is Director of International Business Development & Marketing at Carbice Corporation. Shifting the conversation to her startup, Bianca discusses the challenges involved in starting a new company. The scaling is difficult in the space industry, as you almost have to build a community behind you before even making a product. NewSpace is much more of a community rather than the head-to-head environment of legacy space. The 10+ years of networking experience under her belt made the launch of Space DOTS slightly easier. From her experience, it is always better to collaborate than it is to compete with others in the industry. As she lives in London, Bianca stays very up to date with the relatively new UK Space Agency. Because it is in such an embryonic stage, she shares her excitement that every individual in the industry has the potential to contribute to shaping the future. She then explains how being a social media influencer and CEO helped her in STEM and vice versa. Her platform is especially inspiring for young girls who may have otherwise never considered themselves able to join the space industry. Finally, she reveals what it means to work hard and play hard and the important balance of the two. Thanks for joining, don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe!
