ROBERT FEIERBACH | Canadian Space Transport

With a resume that starts “High-tech serial entrepreneur in LEO to GEO satellite technologies, video/IP/IoT data network services, rocket launch systems, and hypersonic flight”, Robert Feierbach of Maritime Launch Services has clearly lived up to his own advice - If what you do makes you go WOW - pursue that! We talk about cars, rockets, zero gravity, and the impact of nurturing a passion for space.
Podcast: SPACE IN 60 Episode: 30. Robert Feierbach Welcome to the SPACE IN 60 podcast, where Clint Graumann, Andrew Pylypchuk, and Chad Baker bring you into the world of the new space industry! Today, Chad, Clint, Andrew are joined by guest Robert Feierbach. Robert is a “little bit of everything” guy; he’s all over the space industry, a husband and father, able to speak seven languages, and really into cars (with a particular affinity for working on Land Rovers!). Robert is the current President of Maritime Launch Services, as well as the CEO of 0-G Launch. Though he was interested in space since childhood, Robert’s move into the space industry came by happenstance when a job that capitalized on his language skills brought him into the industry. Space has captured his imagination and his career ventures ever since, and while his interests in the field are varied, he has a particular love for launches. More broadly, Robert loves propulsion and high-speed travel, which promise to revolutionize normal travel habits and how business operates. Robert’s dream (which is a lot closer to reality than many people realize!) is to take a half-hour orbital flight to Tokyo from North America within his lifetime. Getting into details about businesses he’s involved with, Robert first shares about Maritime Launch Services, tracing its development into a publicly listed company with a launch site over the ocean in Nova Scotia. 0-G Launch is, more properly, Robert’s baby, and it modifies commercial aircraft to perform zero-gravity-type flights for civilian purposes, product testing, and military training. A second segment of 0-G Launch’s work focuses on particular underbelly modifications to aircraft that enable them to take on more advanced flights and projects. In his experience in the space industry, Robert sees growing demand on both the commercial and civilian fronts. He also sees a great deal of concrete industry growth, perhaps best demonstrated by the proliferation of satellites, many of them commercial, and all of them together highlighting rampant innovation. He talks with Chad, Clint, and Andrew about the phenomenon of globalization that is furthered by space industry advances, the future of 0-G Launch, and how the commoditization of launch will drive cost reductions. As launch becomes more affordable and common, the world will inevitably change - this, Robert says, is our exciting future! As the episode wraps up, Robert and his hosts talk cars and dive into recommendations for people looking to enter the space industry. If what you’re interested in makes you go “Wow!,” Robert says, then chase after it! Links: Learn more about Robert Feierbach, Maritime Launch Services, and 0-G Launch.
