Resilience Podcast Episode 14: William Datta, LCSW, C-SOTP

William (Will) Datta is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has been working in the mental health field since 2015. Prior to that, he received an undergraduate degree at James Madison University and completed his Masters at Virginia Commonwealth University. Will has worked in a variety of settings including home based services, foster care, supervisory roles, and in a Residential Treatment Center specializing in providing services to individuals with severe and persistent emotional problems and their families. Will offers the following encouragement to those experiencing mental health concerns: "If you find it hard to talk or even think about the past, if you find yourself in unhealthy cycles or often ask yourself 'Why am I continuing to have this problem?', if you find yourself becoming overwhelmed easier than you have in the past, if you are experiencing a difficult time through life changes, or if you just need someone to listen, then I am here." Will utilizes a person-centered approach and therapeutic techniques rooted in CBT, Solution Focused, and Trauma-informed interventions. Most importantly to him, Will views the therapeutic relationship as the crucial aspect of the entire process. Will approaches issues with an empathetic directness where clients will leave sessions feeling empowered, understanding that our struggles “may not be our fault, but they are our responsibility.” Through these approaches Will aims to serve individuals and families of all ages working through a wide variety of issues including but not limited to trauma, attachment, anxiety, depression, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and support related to life changes.
