Resilience Podcast Episode 16: Emma Cohen, LPC

Emma Cohen is a Licensed Professional Counselor and obtained her undergraduate degree in Human Development from Virginia Tech. After working in the non-profit sector for two years, she was reminded of her passion for the counseling profession. Emma went on to obtain her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Virginia Tech in 2020. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Emma practices from a non-pathological lens. She fervently believes symptoms and “disorders” are purposeful explanations of how we learned to adapt and cope in times of stress. Emma feels deeply honored to work alongside those struggling with a variety of concerns: mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma-related disorders, eating disorders, substance use issues, attention-deficit disorders and gender-identity concerns. She believes in the power of incorporating mind, body and spirit into her work as we are incapable of healing without the consideration of somatic experiences. Emma also interweaves EMDR therapy into her practice - a neurological, gold-standard trauma treatment. Her central goal in working with clients is to let them feel heard and supported while providing a safe, non-judgmental and loving atmosphere.
