The Arsenal of a Single Mom Part 2

Jonathan Z Butler joins Dr. Sogade again for part two of the arsenal of a single mother. Dr. Butler shares his personal experiences in both science and ministry. To begin, the two doctors discuss how minority women can help with research that is specific to their race and social conditions. This is important for science, but it is also important that the researcher builds a relationship with the community first. Dr. Butler has many achievements, but he gives a lot of credit to his mentors. His advice to listeners is to seek out mentors. This episode also includes the topic of food security. According to the San Francisco food security task force report, 50% of low income residents are food insecure. The two doctors discuss ways that food security can be increased in communities. To end this special episode, Dr. Butler closes with a prayer for every listener. #womenshealth #healthcare #healthresearch #minoritywomen #singlemom #mentors #foodinsecurity #foodsecurity #health #maternalhealth #obgyn Timestamps: (00:35) “Giving a pond to fish from” (02:15) Community specific health data (10:15) Importance of mentors (17:00) Getting outside of your comfort zone (21:35) Taking care of yourself (23:25) Increasing food security (30:20) Continuing the science in action (35:25) Closing prayer
