Why Can't I Get Pregnant? Part 1

Fertility Goddess Dr Desiree McKarthy- Keith discusses why In this episode, Dr. Desiree McCarthy-Keith who is a Reproductive Endocrinologist and Infertility Specialist joins our podcast to discuss fecundity: a women’s physiological potential to reproduce and carry offspring and fertility: a woman’s natural capability to produce offspring. Women’s fertility changes as women age because every menstrual cycle from puberty forward there is a wave of about 50 microscopic eggs that form and some of those develop into a follicle that will grow the egg inside and naturally as the egg becomes a mature gamete ovulation occurs having the follicle release the egg. So Dr. McCarthy-Keith makes the audience aware that there are many eggs that go by every cycle, not just the ovulated one. This repeated addition of unfertilized eggs that pass by can result in a lower egg count which is part of the reason why women’s fertility changes with age. But Dr. McCarthy-Keith does not stop there, she continues on to expound about the quality of ovulated eggs, the factors that play a part in their viability, and the implications of pregnancies produced from poor quality eggs. The conversation gets more capturing as the question about how corporations and bureaucracies view fertility issues and treatments is posed in regard to insurance coverage. Yet, the audience can glean the most from our special guest as she breaks down the foundation of treatment and her foundation in medicine. #REI #Obstetrics #infertility #Fertility #Eggs #Insemination #IVF #BabyFever #IWantToHaveABaby #Reproduction #Fibroids #FamilyPlanning
