#Heart #HeartElectrician #AED #CPR #GACRI #SCARE #HealthDisparities #Inequality #Poverty #CorporateMedicine #CommunityGardens #FoodDeserts #FoodBank #FoodPantry The Cardiologist that does Clinical Electrophysiology, Dr. Joseph Poku, is BACK! In this episode, Dr. Poku explains what it is that he does from that clinical standpoint, and he is a “Heart Electrician”. He and his colleagues fix electrical wiring systems of the heart from inside out to address heart rhythm problems. What makes it so unique is that one cannot see the electrical system of the heart, so the heart electricians use a lot of computers to actually find the problem . Dr. Poku also dives into the ins and outs of the basic training of life support that health care professionals need to deal with a pregnant woman passing out or having a heart attack. Then he informs audience of the significance of an AED, its use, and how it works to save lives. The conversation does get INTENSE when the two physicians bring up the topic of health disparities due to systematic resistance to change because they witness the harsh realities the patients endure as they continuously advocate on the behalf of the patients'; ultimately, keeping the doctor-patient relationship sacred. Dr. Sogade presents different models of community care that have been proven to flourish communities, and Dr. Poku emphasizes the need to move forward from the starting line of education so that we can progress to the next steps that greater impact can be built upon. What a very fun and yet very knowledgeable person to spend your morning with!
